Mr. Vernon Haynes Sr. has been a Commissioner of the Greater Krotz Springs Port Commissioner since 2003.

He is a Funeral Director at the family business, Williams Funeral Home, Inc. He is married to the former Joyce Prudhomme and they have one son, Vernon Haynes II. Mr. Haynes is the son of the late Alvin Haynes, Sr.and the late Frances Emerson.

He is a graduate of J.S. Clark High School and a college graduate of Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.

He is a member of Inseparable Friends Benevolent Society and a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Mr. Haynes was appointed to the Port Board by the City of Opelousas.
